Role summary

Key responsibilities

  • Actively manage administrative processes attached to patient pathways.
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient service for multidisciplinary teams and patients.
  • Deliver a high-quality administration service, positive patient experience, and excellent customer service.
  • Assist with the running of effective MDT's across paediatric specialties where appropriate.
  • Proactively track patient pathways to ensure all next steps are in place.
  • Manage and book all elective theatres for the service and RTT tracking for patients on the waiting list.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to A level or NVQ level 3 Customer Service/ Business Admin /ITQ or equivalent
  • Typing qualification or equivalent experience (if applicable)
  • Experience of working in a busy clerical/office environment or reception service
  • Secretarial and /or administrative experience
  • Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
  • Working within guidelines
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
  • Data entry experience and documentation
  • Experience of IT packages - Microsoft office
  • Experience of producing documents to a high standard
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
  • Sound knowledge of office procedures
  • Understanding of customer service
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Knowledge of National Cancer Waits targets
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills including telephone, email, face to face
  • Ability to organise and manage own time keeping to schedule and deadlines
  • Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously

Job summary

To assist with the running of effective MDT's across paediatric specialties where appropriate. To proactively track patient pathways to ensure all next steps are in place. To work as part of a team and autonomously to meet the demands of the service. To provide essential admin support.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Patient Pathway coordinator in Paediatrics. The Patient Pathway coordinator will work closely with, consultants, nursing, AHP's and other admin staff within the service.

This post will also include the management and booking of all elective theatres for the service and the RTT tracking for patients on the waiting list. The post holder will be responsible for managing all elements of the elective surgical pathway and ensure patients have the relevant pre-assessments and tests carried out prior to surgery. The Patient Pathway coordinator will ensure any actions in the MDT
