Role summary
This role supports the smooth day-to-day operation of neonatal services by ensuring essential equipment, medical supplies, and consumables are available and managed effectively. The administrator will manage stock levels, order equipment, coordinate maintenance, and provide administrative support. They will work closely with clinical teams, procurement, and external suppliers to deliver high-quality care. This position is ideal for someone with administration, stores, or healthcare support experience who is proactive and organised.
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) and numeracy NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent experience in a hospital or office environment.
- Proficient keyboard skills
- Basic understanding of Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Willingness to complete Trust-required safeguarding training upon appointment.
- Knowldege and Skills
- Appropriate experience in a relevant area
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Have a basic understanding of clinical terms and products
- Awareness of Manual Handling policies and able to evidence practice within these
- Experience of service improvement
- Experience of delivering to targets within financial constraints
- Experience of use of NHS procurement systems & processes
- Personal Attributes
- Ability to prioritise own work
- Excellent time management skills
- Discretion, understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Evidence of the ability to build effective working relationships

Gloucester Neonatal Unit for a highly organised and motivatedNeonatal Stores Administrator to join our dedicated Neonatal Unit, Transitional Care and Outreach Service team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This important role supports the smooth day-to-day operation of our neonatal services by ensuring that essential equipment, medical supplies and consumables are available, maintained and managed effectively. Working closely with clinical teams, procurement services, medical engineering departments and external suppliers, you will play a key part in helping us deliver safe, high-quality care to newborn babies and their families.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock levels, ordering equipment and supplies, coordinating maintenance and servicing of medical devices, and providing administrative support across the service. You will also contribute to service improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities for greater efficiency and value for money.
