Role summary

This role supports the monitoring and improvement of quality and safety across community, primary care, and neighbourhood services within NHS Kent and Medway ICB. The post holder will work with providers and partners to ensure robust assurance, effective use of intelligence, and delivery of improvement actions. Key responsibilities include implementing the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and PSIRF, embedding learning, and strengthening safety culture. The role also involves contributing to quality oversight, risk identification, and developing improvement plans to enhance outcomes for service users.

  • Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Patient Safety Incident Response Framework Training Level 1 and 2 as well as additional PSIRF Oversight and methodology training
  • Experience of managing a team without direct line management
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures
  • Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments

Desirable criteria

  • Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) Training Level 3 and 4, or working towards completion
  • Attributes
  • Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required
  • Used to working in a busy environment

  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly

Job summary

The Quality and Safety Lead for Community, Primary Care and Neighbourhoods supports the monitoring and improvement of quality and safety across a diverse portfolio of services. The post holder works with providers and system partners to ensure robust assurance, effective use of intelligence and delivery of improvement actions. They support the implementation of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and PSIRF, helping to embed learning, strengthen safety culture and ensure patient experience informs change.

The role contributes to quality oversight, risk identification and the development of improvement plans that enhance outcomes for service users and communities. The post holder will also act as the ICB's patient safety lead to focus on learning from patient safety events across the system and support the senior Quality Managers with the implementation of the National Patient Safety Strategy.
