Role summary
This is a part-time Band 6 Dermatology Nurse role providing high-quality, specialist care to patients with dermatological conditions. The post holder will manage patient care, deliver nurse-led clinics, and undertake specialist procedures, ensuring evidence-based care. As a senior team member, you will support junior staff, contribute to service improvement, and help enhance dermatology services and patient outcomes. The role requires proven experience as a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Dermatology and a commitment to professional development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, safe and compassionate specialist care to patients with a wide range of dermatological conditions.
- Manage patient care, deliver nurse-led clinics and undertake specialist dermatology procedures.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, supporting patients and their families.
- Coordinate care, provide specialist advice and communicate complex and sensitive information within a multidisciplinary team.
- Act as a role model, supporting the development of junior staff and students through teaching, mentorship and clinical supervision.
- Contribute to service improvement, clinical audit and quality initiatives.
Essential criteria
- Current NMC registration - first level nurse
- Demonstrable experience at Band 5 staff nurse level within Dermatology OR transferable skills such as a non medical prescriber
- Evidence of involvement in policy and practice change
- Evidence of running nurse led clinics, making clinical decisions and providing education to patients
- Must be able to demonstrate leadership, vision, strategic thinking and planning
- Evidence of providing learning and development to other professionals in own work area and other clinical areas
- Working as part of a team
- Demonstrates specialist knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD
- Knowledge of prescribing/PGDs
- Degree in Nursing
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Post basic qualification in speciality
