Role summary
This is an exciting permanent opportunity for a full-time Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at Good Hope Hospital. The role focuses on acute in-patient care across general medical and elderly hospital wards, with some support to an off-site ward. The successful candidate will join a supportive team with excellent training opportunities and access to videofluoroscopy & FEES clinics. Applicants should have postgraduate experience, an interest in acute care, and competency in communication and dysphagia management. Participation in a weekend service is required, and flexible working arrangements are available.
Essential criteria
- *Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- *Completion of RCSLT newly qualified practitioner competencies
- *Current registration with Health Professions Council
- *Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
Desirable criteria
- *Evidence of leadership training.
- *Attendance at Clinical Educators Course.
- *VF / FEES trained
- *Postgraduate experience in relevant clinical areas
- *Competence in advanced dysphagia and communication assessment and management
- *Well-established knowledge of assessment tools and a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group
- *Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group)
- *Experience of teaching SLT students
- *Experience of mentoring/ training junior staff
- *Experience of involvement in Clinical Governance/ Audit programme
- *Awareness of national drivers, policies and procedures (relevant to the client group) and their implications for SLT
- *Awareness of current research relevant to the client group
- *Understanding of the principles of clinical governance /audit
- Additional Criteria
- *Experience of teaching SLT students
- *Experience of mentoring/ training junior staff
- *Experience of involvement in Clinical Governance/ Audit programme
- *Awareness of national drivers, policies and procedures (relevant to the client group) and their implications for SLT

Job summary
An exciting new opportunity has arisen on our Good Hope Hospital sites to appoint to a full time Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work within our dynamic and experienced acute Speech and Language therapy team on a permanent basis
This post will have a clinical focus on acute in-patient care across our general medical and elderly hospital wards on these hospital sites with some support also being provided to our off-site ward at the Norman Power centre. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing specialist with a clinical interest in acute care who is further wanting to advance and develop their skill set.
Main duties of the job
You will be welcomed into a large and supportive therapy team with excellent training and development opportunities as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. You will have the opportunity to work alongside highly specialist staff and have access to regular videofluoroscopy & FEES clinics. The successful candidate will have suitable post graduate clinical experience, demonstrable interest in acute care, with competency in both communication and dysphagia management.
