Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse within the Gedling & Hucknall Older People Care Unit, focusing on older adults with mental health difficulties and individuals with organic mental health diagnoses. The nurse will provide specialist assessment, treatment, and support, working within a community setting and care homes. Key responsibilities include managing a diverse patient group under the care programme approach and providing clinical and managerial leadership.
Essential criteria
- RMN
- Specialist knowledge of the nursing needs and issues associated with dementia in a residential setting.
- NMC
- Nursing student mentor.
Desirable criteria
- Non-medical prescribing.
- Training
- Dementia care/person centred care training.
- Substantial experience of working with people with dementia in an inpatient/ residential setting and or community setting.
- Experience of managing a case load.
- Care planning within the MCA and best interest decision making experience.
- Community Experience
- A robust understanding of risk assessment and management.
- The 6 C's
- Demonstrate understanding of the mental and physical health and social needs of the client group.
- Demonstrate a working understanding of Safeguarding issues and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- A robust understanding of risk assessment and management.
- National and Local Nursing issues
- Effective, adaptable communication with patients, carers and other agencies.
- Good written, verbal and IT skills.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.

The team works within the Gedling & Hucknall locality alongside service users, carers, and partner agencies to promote recovery, independence, and quality of life.
