Role summary
Tintagel Ward, a 29-bedded acute Neurology and eldercare ward, is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Ward Leader. The role involves providing specialist care to patients with neurological deficits, ongoing neurological diseases, and disorders, including tracheostomy, laryngectomy, spinal, and eldercare chest wall injuries. The successful candidate will promote excellent patient experience, maintain clinical competence, and support staff development within a multi-disciplinary team. This position requires strong communication skills, clinical expertise, and the ability to manage resources effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Constantly promote the importance of the patient experience within the ward / department.
- Maintain clinical competence in specialist field, maintaining clinical credibility.
- To maintain current registration with the NMC and to comply with all standards set by them.
- Work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team, supporting departmental development and change.
- To manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently.
- To be able to take charge of the unit clinically.
Essential criteria
- NMC/AHP registration
- Holds, or working towards, a degree
- Relevant nursing/AHP experience within specialty
- Audit or research experience
- Teaching and education experience
Desirable criteria
- University qualification in specialty
- Teaching/assessment/ mentoring qualification

Tintagel Ward is involved in delivering specialist care to its neurology patients as well as supporting tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients, spinal and eldercare chest wall injuries.
We are looking for a Deputy Ward Leader to come and work within our fantastic team, striving to provide outstanding patient care. We are seeking to appoint highly motivated and enthusiastic people that want to ensure the highest of quality in nursing care.
