Role summary
This is an opportunity for a Band 5 Learning Disability Nurse to join the Specialist Community Learning Disability Team. The role involves providing clinical support to children with learning disabilities and complex needs, including challenging behaviour, physical/sensory impairment, mental health, and forensic issues. The post holder will work within an integrated health team in various community settings, supporting clinical activity and undertaking delegated duties from senior nurses. The team focuses on high-quality services, health promotion, and staff development.
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration NMC Qualification
- Knowledge of national and local policy/good practice pertaining to health and social care.
- Good communication skills for use in a variety of settings with clients, carers and professionals of varying levels of understanding.
- Knowledge of NMC code and standards of professional practice.
- Ability to reflect own work practice
- Experience of assessment and care planning process.
- Ability to handle difficult situations

The Learning Disability Service strives to provide forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with children with learning disabilities and autism, we work closely with their families, and we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives.
