Role summary
This is a Band 5 rotational Occupational Therapist role at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will manage a caseload of complex patients, using evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions across various rotations including A&E/AMU, Post Acute Medicine, and Stroke Rehabilitation. The role requires a flexible approach, including weekend commitments, and involves multidisciplinary team collaboration and accurate record-keeping.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organise and implement appropriate treatment programs.
- Complete and record risk assessment appropriately and act upon this.
- Implement treatment within local guidelines, Royal College of Occupational Therapy standards and clinical governance.
- Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with clients and carers, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
- To advise clients and carers on specific aids, equipment and adaptations and recommend provisions.
- To make appropriate clinical observations and keep accurate records of assessments and interventions in accordance with local and national guidelines.
Essential criteria
- Dip RCOT or Degree State Registration.
- HCPC registration.
- Ability to think logically.
- Able to prioritise workload.
- Communicate with others in the multidisciplinary teams.
- Able to write concise and accurate reports.
- Ability to cope with stress.
- Good time management skills.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks Have a flexible approach to working and able to undertake weekend working as required.
Desirable criteria
- Member of BAOT.
- Member of a special interest group.
- Able to present information to small and large groups.
- Demonstrate and good understanding of the nature of illness and models of treatment and how these impact on the patient.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the systems within departments for the management of patient assessment and treatment.
