Role summary
This role is for an experienced Assistant Practitioner/Associate Mammographer to join the friendly multidisciplinary team at the Cheshire & Stockport Breast Screening Programme. You will provide high-quality mammography services for both the NHS Breast Screening Programme and Symptomatic Service, working under the supervision of a qualified mammographer. The position requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of the National Health Breast Screening Programme. You will also assist Radiologists, Radiographers, and other staff across the department, including working evening and weekend clinics at Macclesfield and mobile van sites.
Essential criteria
- Foundation Degree in Assisting Professional Practice or equivalent qualification or apprenticeship
- GCSE Maths and English Grades A-C, 4-9 or Functional Skills Maths level 2, Functional Skills level 2 or equivalent
- Mammography Associate apprenticeship Level 4
Desirable criteria
- Attendance at study days.
- Attendance at conferences etc
- Experience of working in a Breast Screening Programme
- Understanding of working in a regulated clinical environment or exposure to radiation safety
- Experience of working in a Radiology unit
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to demonstrate caring attitude to patients/clients and staff members
- IT skills
- Good clinical and safety judgement within scope of practice
- Able to self-motivate
- Team working skills and ability to follow instructions under supervision
- Basic manual handling skills
- Able to prioritise
- Knowledge of Infection Control Involvement with Quality Assurance
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of data protection and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) principles
- Understanding of IRMER (Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulation regulations
- Understanding of NHSBSP (NHS Breast Screening Programme) procedures
- Knowledge of CRIS (Computerised Radiology Information System) / PACS (icture Archiving and Communication System)

Job summary
This is an opportunity for an Assistant/Associate Practitioner in Mammography to join our friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team at the Cheshire & Stockport Breast Screening Programme. We are looking for an experienced Assistant Practitioner in Mammography with Level 4 mammography associate qualification or equivalent.
You will need excellent communications skills and a knowledge of the National Health Breast Screening Programme and its aims. Knowledge of the symptomatic breast cancer pathway is also beneficial.
Hours per week: 37.5
