Role summary
This role is for a dynamic, motivated, and compassionate registered nurse to join the highly specialist and internationally renowned multi-disciplinary team in the 36-bedded Critical Care unit at Royal Papworth Hospital. The unit provides outstanding compassionate and holistic care to critically ill patients, including those requiring ECMO, heart and lung transplants, and PCI pathway services. The successful candidate will receive tailored training, access to expert clinical mentors, and opportunities for higher education and career progression.
Essential criteria
- Professional adult nursing qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree level OR diploma level qualification or above
- Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting.
- Ability to mentor and educate junior staff.
- An understanding of safeguarding policy and procedures including Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), particularly those related to vulnerable patients.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able to problem solve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others' workload.
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in further training and education.
- Competent IT skills.

Our 36 bedded Critical Care is one of the largest and busiest in the region, with state of the art facilities, we are able to provide outstanding compassionate and holistic care to our patients.
As a tertiary referral centre we look after some of the sickest patients who are referred to us for a variety of specialist services such as our ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) service, heart and lung transplant, PCI pathway. Working in this environment is challenging and rewarding in equal amounts.
