Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join the Francis Willis Unit, a 15-bedded male-only low secure unit. The role involves providing outstanding and compassionate care to patients with severe and enduring mental illness and a forensic history. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to uphold the trust's values and deliver high standards of care. The position requires working unsociable hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Provide outstanding and compassionate care to patients within the service.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to uphold trust values.
- Deliver high standards of care to patients with severe and enduring mental illness and a forensic history.
- Be prepared to work unsociable hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Essential criteria
- Previous relevant experience working with people with mental health problems at a nursing assistant grade or equivalent within a health and social care setting
- Cavendish Care Certificate or willingness to work towards resourced by LPFT
- NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent
- oNVQ level 3 in Promoting Independence or equivalent or working towards achievement
- oAbility to undertake Reducing and Restrictive Practice (RRP)
- oA patient and empathic approach
- oEffective communication with service user, other members of the team and outside agencies
- oClear accurate clinical note keeping
- oSkills related to Physical healthcare interventions such as urine analysis, phlebotomy, TPR and BP etc, recording findings and informing supervising nurse of results
- oIT skills.
- oDe-escalation Skills
- oPlanning and organisation skills
Desirable criteria
- Voluntary or working capacity with mental health service or equivalent
- Certificate in Community Mental Health
- ECDL
- Immediate life support
- Venepuncture

Francis Willis Unit has a new and exciting opportunity for a keen, enthusiastic and Senior Healthcare Support Worker who holds pride in providing outstanding and compassionate care towards patients within out service. We work within a multi-disciplinary team who aims to provide care for patients who have severe and enduring mental illness alongside a forensic history. We work collaboratively to uphold the trust's purpose, vision and values to enable to best quality care for our patients.
Francis Willis Unit is the only low secure unit within Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust. It is a 15-bedded male-only low secure unit supporting patients who have a forensic history. The ward is for adults between the ages of 18-65 who are experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
