Role summary
This Staff Nurse role is within the Orthopaedic outpatient centre, supporting clinicians in various trauma, elective, and spinal outpatient clinics. Key duties include preparing and overseeing clinics to ensure efficiency, managing resources, and supporting clinicians and Healthcare Assistants. The role focuses on delivering high standards of patient care, ensuring patients are well-informed about treatments and investigations. Staff are also expected to work as a team and support the plaster room as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee clinics, ensuring they run efficiently.
- Utilise available resources effectively.
- Support clinicians and anticipate their requirements.
- Be responsible for Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) in clinical areas and provide support.
- Ensure patients receive the highest standards of care, aligned with Trust values.
- Inform patients about further treatments and investigations, ensuring they are well-informed.
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Diploma/degree in nursing studies or working towards
- Relevant experience in past of looking after patients in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Compassionate
- Confident and calm attitude with the ability to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- IT skills
- Accurate document presentation and attention to detail
- Punctual and reliable
- Motivated and enthusiastic, shows initiative
Desirable criteria
- Undertaken mentorship training /Assessor/supervisor training
- Previous NHS experience within last 12 months
- Previous experience within an Acute setting
- Broad clinical knowledge base in orthopaedics

Main duties of the job
The main role of the post is to prepare and oversee clinics, this will involve ensuring they are running efficiently, using the resources available, supporting clinicians and anticipating their requirements.
