Role summary
This role involves working within the Specialist Nurse Led Children's Continence Service, coordinating a multidisciplinary team to provide tertiary level care. The post holder will ensure integrated care for children with continence difficulties, influencing care management pathways based on best practice. Key responsibilities include supporting the Lead Nurse in operational management, ensuring high-quality care through education and governance, and acting as an expert in paediatric continence. The role also involves coordinating multi-professional approaches and facilitating transitions for children.
Key responsibilities
- To support the Lead Nurse in the ongoing operational management of the Bladder and Bowel service within the Child Development Centre.
- In conjunction with the Lead Nurse ensure the continued provision of high quality care to all children through staff education, governance and professional development.
- To act as an expert in Paediatric continence, co-ordinating care pathways and developing the service to meet national guidelines and standards.
- To co-ordinate the multi-professional approach in the provision care for children who have continence difficulties.
- Facilitate transition from hospital to home, school and into adult services.
- Ensuring the efficient and effective provision of care, advice, education and support to children and families in their own home or other community settings.
Essential criteria
- Proven evidence of recent demonstrable experience in children's nursing in a similar role
- Current and up to date demonstrable experience of nursing children with bowel and bladder problems
- NMC 1st Level registered nurse RSCN / RN Child Branch / RLD with paediatric demonstrable experience
- Child Protection Supervision training
- Child Protection Level 3
- Non-medical prescriber or willingness to undertake
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to communicate sensitive information
Desirable criteria
- Community demonstrable experience
- Proven evidence of working towards Higher Education - MSc
