Role summary
This role involves supporting the day-to-day operations of the TB Service, ensuring high standards of patient care for those recovering from Tuberculosis. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, case managing both adults and children, and providing expert nursing advice and education. Responsibilities also include supporting clinical audit, contributing to COHORT REVIEW, and undertaking service developments. This is primarily a community-based role, including nurse-led clinics for contact tracing and managing incidents/outbreaks, working with multi-agencies.
Essential criteria
- \\* Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register.
- \\* Evidence of post registration qualification in TB, supplemented by specialist experience and short courses.
- \\* Recognised mentorship course
- \\* Non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards (where applicable to role).
Desirable criteria
- \\* To have or working towards advanced health assessment module and non medical prescribing.
- \\* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- \\* Significant post registration experience at Band 6 or above Clinical Nurse Specialist within practice related field to role applied for
- \\* Evidence of ability to professionally lead / manage a team.
- \\* Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/competence.
- \\* Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to TB.
- \\* Experience of developing educational programmes and teaching / assessing and supervising others in a clinical and community setting.
- \\* Experience in service development.
- \\* Working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment .
- \\* Can demonstrate expert nursing knowledge with an ability to assess,plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients / relatives/ care staff.
- \\* Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance (E).
- \\* Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context relating to the speciality
- \\* Has understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding .
- \\* Patient / user involvement and advocacy role.
- \\* Awareness of current research related to the speciality.

Job summary
The post holder will support the day-to-day running of the TB Service and ensuring that patients
recovering from TB, and that they receive the highest standard of care. They will work part of a
multidisciplinary team, and case manage both adults and children. As a nursing expert the post holder
will demonstrate a high level of expertise in TB, providing advice, education and support to team
members, patients and their families. The post holder will support clinical audit activity, contribute/
support COHORT REVIEW and whole genome sequencing investigations.
The post holder is responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice,
standards of care within the service including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and
guidelines. They will support and undertake service developments in collaboration with the Lead Nurse
and multidisciplinary colleagues. The post holder is accountable for their safe, effective clinical practice
and working as part of a defined team and supporting performance, ensuring efficient and effective
use of physical and human resources.
Role includes nurse-led clinics for contact tracing, managing incidents / outbreaks, at various
community settings. This is primarily a community role. The post holder will work with multi-agencies
including UKHSA and local authority.
