Role summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Infection Prevention and Control Team at North Middlesex University Hospital. The role requires an enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated nurse with a minimum of two years' experience at Band 6 or above in infection prevention and control. Candidates must have or be working towards Level 3 Infection Prevention and Control modules and possess a recognised teaching qualification with proven leadership and management qualities. The successful candidate will provide a nursing service, manage an agreed caseload, and contribute to policy development and audit within the IPCT.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a nursing service within infection prevention and control by receiving direct referrals.
- Use advanced clinical judgement to plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with complex physical and psychological problems.
- Manage an agreed caseload, under supervision, using in-depth knowledge of the patient/client group.
- Act as an expert role model in nursing care to other nurses and assist in the management and supervision of junior team members.
- Contribute to the development of nursing guidelines/protocols and identify possible risks of infection.
- Participate in the audit and monitoring of the general hospital environment, providing advice on infection prevention and control aspects.
Essential criteria
- oRGN (A) essential
- oAppropriate teaching certificate or extensive teaching experience (A) essential.
- oMust have Level 3 Infection Prevention and Control module
- oMust have or be working towards degree level education/ modules in infection prevention and control
- Teaching qualification/ mentorship ENB 998 or equivalent
- oMinimum two years experience of working as a band 6 or above in infection prevention and control (essential).
- oExperience of investigating IPC incidents and reporting findings and learning Multi-disciplinary meetings participation and contribution
- Experience of undertaking audits and survillence relating to infection prevention and control
- oLeadership experience
- oWriting and updating policies/ guidance and protocol
- oExperience of leading quality improvement initiatives
- oExperience in teaching multidisciplinary staff (A/I) (essential).
- oUnderstanding of clinical risk, clinical governance and national benchmarks.
- oResearch appreciation and ability to influence others through research findings (I) (essential).
- oUnderstanding of national frameworks (I) (essential).
- oEvidence of participation in audit and the promotion of evidence based practice (A/I) (essential).
- oIT skills
