Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and adaptable Senior Public Health Assistant to join the Health Visiting service. You will work with a range of colleagues to deliver the Healthy Child Programme, supporting families with children aged zero to five. Key responsibilities include conducting health and wellbeing reviews, growth monitoring, and delivering health promotion activities in various community settings. The role requires an understanding of child development and the importance of play.
Key responsibilities
- Working with clients in a variety of community settings, for example, home, clinic, children's centre, educational establishment etc.
- Completing health and wellbeing reviews, packages of care
- Undertaking growth monitoring for children aged 0-5 years
- The delivery of health promotion activities
- Leading and assisting with the delivery of a variety of Health Visiting clinics and group work, for example, Parenting programmes, introducing solids and Breastfeeding groups.
- Attending and contributing to team meetings
Essential criteria
- Level 5 foundation degree level of study in child development or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of experience.
- Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent in English and Maths)
- recent experience of child development gained through education, work experience or previous employment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Senior Public Health Assistant to join our caring and progressive Health Visiting service. You will work closely with a range of colleagues within the Health Visiting team to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.
Our health visiting service provides support to families (adults) with children aged zero to five. You'll be required to understand and identify healthy normal growth and development in children from 0-5 years which is monitored through Health and wellbeing reviews and promote completion of the Ages & Stages questionnaire, (ASQ. TM). You will have an understanding of child development and play and the importance of play in children's lives and learning, language development, special educational needs and disability.
