Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated and compassionate ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse to join a dedicated day surgery service at Leeds Dental Institute. You will provide high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing day case oral surgery, including both adults and children. Responsibilities span anaesthetics, theatre duties (scrub and circulating), first stage recovery, and ward care from admission to discharge. Key responsibilities
- Work within anaesthetics and theatres, undertaking both scrub and circulating duties.
- Support first stage recovery.
- Work within the ward area from admission through to discharge.
- Provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for all patients.
- Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision.
- Assist with teaching and supervision of learners and other staff from all disciplines.

Job summary
Our unit is a dedicated day surgery service within the Dental Institute, comprising of a ward area for pre and post operative care, Anaesthetic room, theatre, recovery room and pre-assessment office
We are a small but welcoming and supportive multidisciplinary team comprising of ODPs, Registered Nurses, Dental Nurses, Support workers and administrative colleagues. We work closely with other departments across the LDI and the wider LGI theatre teams.
Every day brings variety with different surgical lists and patient groups. We also have dedicated paediatric operating lists twice a week, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your confidence and experience caring for children as well as adults.
We are committed to supporting our staff to develop both personally and professionally and training and ongoing support will be provided. There are also opportunities to learn new skills, undertake projects and take on additional responsibilities such as staff champion and key trainer roles
