Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated general Radiographer to work in a busy department in York. You will work flexibly across various general department areas, including Theatres, Fluoroscopy, Dexa, and the Emergency Department, and participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours rota. The department supports newly qualified and experienced Radiographers, offering progression from Band 5 to Band 6 through a competency-based program and opportunities for funded post-graduate study. Essential criteria
- Level 6 radiography qualification
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (or expected to qualify 2026)
- Experience and Knowledge
- Relevant prescribed clinical experience leading to qualification
- Evidence of continuous professional development

- Able to work without direct clinical supervision
- A sufficiently developed standard of imaging technique resulting in a high level of patient care
- Demonstrable excellent communication skills including ability to overcome barriers to understanding and reassurance skills
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation relating to the medical use of radiation / other imaging techniques

Job summary
We are looking for highly motived general Radiographers to work in our busy department in York. York is a wonderful city within North Yorkshire, an area renowned for its beaches, National Parks, and history.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff, who provide high quality, user-friendly diagnostic radiology services. We are a friendly inclusive team with a great skill mix, which helps us support each other to provide excellent patient centred care.
Newly qualified students are encouraged to apply, as are more experienced Radiographers (banding for more experienced staff would be subject to experience and transferrable skills).
Interviews for this position will be held in person ONLY at one of our North Yorkshire sites. Remote interviews will not be available.
Main duties of the job
As part of the radiology team, you will be required to work flexibly throughout the general department, including Theatres, Fluoroscopy, Dexa, and the Emergency Department. You will be expected to participate in the general out of hours rota, which provides a service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will work across our York satellite sites, such as Selby, Clifton Park Hospital, and at Askham Bar.
