This Band 4 TB Support Worker role is with CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services, focusing on supporting individuals undergoing TB treatment. Key responsibilities
- Support individuals with tuberculosis (TB) to follow their treatment plans, including delivering [contact details removed] (DOT).
- Provide education and advice to patients, families, and carers about TB, treatment and infection control.
- Assist with contact tracing and the follow-up of patients in community settings.
- Monitor patient progress and promptly report any concerns or changes to the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate, up to date, and confidential patient records in line with policy.
- Carry out phlebotomy procedures in accordance with training, competency, and guidance.
Essential criteria
- NHS Care Certificate
- Diploma or equivalent appropriate qualification, e.g. foundation degree; or NVQ3 level qualification plus short courses or relevant experience to diploma level
- Educated to GCSE Standard or Equivalent (Maths & English)
- Commitment to on-going learning and development
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases.
- Experience of following delegated procedures and treatment plans including the administration of medicines
- Knowledge of NHS
- Demonstrate an acceptable level of numeracy and literacy. An awareness of risk management.
- Knowledge of multi-agency services available and processes for referra
- Knowledge of the effects of the ageing process and needs of vulnerable adults in relation to their health and well-being
- Basic Knowledge of TB and Public health
Desirable criteria
- Clinical skills in blood sampling in adults & children
- Experience in an extended clinical support role
- Experience with the NHS patient information database
- Practical experience and theoretical knowledge in the specialist area or similar
- Knowledge of local health needs strategies.
- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
