Role summary
This is a fixed-term Speech and Language Therapist position covering a 12-month secondment within the adult SLT service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The post holder will independently manage a complex caseload, provide second opinions to junior staff, and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities include specialist assessment and management for adult inpatients on acute wards.

- Experience providing complex specialist dysphagia assessment and management

- Understanding of NHS policies relevant to SLT and the value of clinical governance
- Ability to work on autonomously and as part of a team
- Specialist assessment and management knowledge for adults with complex dysphagia
- Specialist assessment and management knowledge for adults with complex communication and / or voice impairment
- Ability to communicate effectively in a highly emotive clinical setting
- Ability to identify and assess clinical risk accordingly
- Highly effective written and verbal communication
- Awareness of professional and personal boundaries
- Able to maintain prolonged periods of concentration
- Ability to cope with stressful working situations, including aggressive patients / relatives
Desirable criteria
- Experience with Videofluoroscopy, with evidence of the relevant competencies
- Experience with tracheostomy weaning and management, with the relevant competencies
