Role summary
The Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker will work across the Acute Receiving Unit (ARU) and Emergency Medical Receiving Unit (EMRU) to support the assessment, monitoring, and care of patients with acute medical conditions. Key responsibilities
- Support the assessment, monitoring, and care of patients presenting with acute medical conditions.
- Undertake delegated clinical duties, including carrying out and recording patient observations, performing ECGs, and obtaining blood samples.
- Support diagnostic investigations and recognise and escalate changes in a patient's condition.
- Assist with the timely transfer of patients between departments.
- Contribute to effective patient flow across both the ARU and EMRU.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention and control, dignity, and respect.
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role
- Experience of providing person centred care
- Flexibility in shift/working patterns to meet the needs of the service.
Desirable criteria
- Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
- Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
- Care Certificate/working towards
