Role summary
The Urology Department at St Albans City Hospital is seeking an experienced and committed Medical Secretary. This full-time role involves providing efficient and comprehensive secretarial services to Consultants and the Multi-Disciplinary Team. The successful candidate will need a good general education and experience as a Medical Secretary, working within a friendly team in a fascinating specialty.
Key responsibilities
- Provide an efficient and comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultants and Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- Provide a comprehensive and efficient secretarial and administrative service to one or more of the Urology Consultants.
- Work closely with other Urology Consultants and their secretaries, along with other members of the Urology team.
- Liaise with the consultant on call, involving frequent movement between several offices on site at Watford General Hospital.
- Be prepared to travel to one of the three sites on a manager's request.
Essential criteria
- Good basic education to GCSE level or AMSPAR/RSA III typing
- Extensive experience as a Medical Secretary
- Medical Terminology
- Knowledge of hospital computer systems (PAS)
- Knowledge of 18-week pathway process
- Knowledge of PTLs
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of specialty
- Previous medical secretarial experience
- Working in a changing environment
