Applications are invited from GMC-registered medical practitioners for a full-time Consultant post in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.

This new position forms part of our strategy to create a fully integrated Microbiology and Infectious Diseases department.

Successful candidates will play a key role in:

  • Managing patients with complex infections in the acute hospital setting
  • Expanding the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service
  • Overseeing care for patients admitted with suspected high-consequence infectious diseases

We welcome applications from individuals interested in pursuing a joint clinical and academic career in collaboration with the University of St Andrews. Dedicated academic time may be available for this purpose.

On-Call and Weekend Commitments

Out-of-hours responsibilities include emergency cover for Medical Microbiology and Infection Control on a 1-in-5 on-call rota. Weekend duties involve laboratory attendance on Saturday
