Role summary
This role is for an experienced Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant to join a friendly team delivering services to children with special educational needs in various community settings. The post holder will support physiotherapists in providing care to children aged 4-19 with physical and movement difficulties, working independently under guidance. Responsibilities include supporting children in schools and clinics, adapting activities, and collaborating with families and education staff. The role requires a flexible approach and involves administrative duties and travel.
Essential criteria
- Recognised NVQ or equivalent Qualification
- Educated to at least: 5 GCSEs A-C, including English and Maths
Desirable criteria
- Short courses in development of physical skills/child related medical conditions
- Significant experience working as a physiotherapy assistant/practitioner in an NHS setting
- Working with Children and young people with physical difficulties
- Working with parents and carers
- Working with a physiotherapist
- Administration tasks
- Working within an education environment
- Running groups
- Experience working with electronic patient records such as systemone/RIO/EMIS
- Experience working with databases/excel spread sheets
- Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and young people of all ages and abilities.
- Ability to work independently under guidance within agreed constraints.
- Ability to carry out tasks as directed by an PT
- Awareness of the roles of other professionals in Health, Education and Social Care involved with CYP.
- Good computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems
- Knowledge of children with disabilities
- Knowledge of SEN/EHCP process

- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Paediatric Physiotherapy Assistant to join our friendly paediatric physiotherapy team, delivering services to children with special educational needs in mainstream and special schools, nurseries and the community.
The team is part of an integrated Paediatric Therapy Service, providing a multi-disciplinary, family-centred rehabilitation service to children with a variety of complex needs.
The successful candidate will support clinical and school staff in delivering physiotherapy to children and young people aged 4-19 years with complex health needs across a variety of community settings.
The work is varied and requires a flexible approach, with a focus on promoting good customer service and effective working relationships.
