Role summary
This role involves working as an experienced, SVT accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist, performing a wide range of unsupervised vascular diagnostic investigations, primarily duplex ultrasound. You will report on findings, discuss results with clinicians, and contribute to workload planning and staff training. The position also requires travel to other sites within the Thames Valley Vascular Network to support outreach clinics.
Key responsibilities
- Perform a full range of non-invasive diagnostic tests on vascular patients, predominantly duplex ultrasound.
- Write diagnostic reports and share them with referring clinicians.
- Work closely with the vascular team and other services across the Trust and Thames Valley Vascular Network.
- Undertake day-to-day supervision and training of trainees, including practical imaging skills and equipment use.
- Assist in the production and development of research funding applications and protocols.
- Maintain professional growth, identify training needs, and uphold CSVS accreditation.
Essential criteria
- CSVS Accredited Vascular Scientist, or STP trainee at the end of their training. Pay will be Band 7 Annex 21 until AVS is achieved.

Job summary
1\. To work as an experienced, SVT accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist able to work unsupervised and autonomously to perform a wide range of vascular diagnostic investigations selecting appropriate methods depending on patient need
2\. To report on own findings and discuss results with referring clinicians as appropriate
3\. Undertake specific non-scanning roles in the day-to-day management of the service as agreed with the Chief Vascular Scientist
4\. Take joint responsibility for daily workload planning and prioritising patients dependant on demand and resources while ensuring effective use of time
5\. To be involved in training new members of staff i.e. departmental trainees, Radiologists, Vascular Surgeons (SPR's), AAA screening technicians, visiting technologists, clinicians and undertake audits/studies
6\. Travel to other sites within the Thames Valley Vascular Network to provide scanning support to outreach clinics
7\. Support and adapt to any service development needs including flexible working hours
