Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to develop clinical and leadership skills within the Respiratory Team. You will work as a lead clinician across Respiratory wards and Critical Care areas, coordinating, supervising, and developing the team. The role involves managing a varied caseload, influencing patient flow, and demonstrating expert clinical skills in respiratory patient management. You will also contribute to service development, research, and audit, requiring excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key responsibilities
- Demonstrate expert knowledge, advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking and analysis skills in the treatment of Respiratory patients and those on Critical Care.
- Manage a clinical case load across the Respiratory wards and critical care areas.
- Take a lead on and have an overview of complex, Respiratory patients and have an excellent relationship with the MDT.
- Take a lead role in the development of the therapy service, supporting research, audits and up to date evidenced based practice across all specialities.
- Lead on projects across Respiratory ensuring the delivery and ongoing development of a high quality patient focussed service.
- Demonstrate clinical and professional leadership experience, a passion for the service and the ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.
Essential criteria
- Grad Dip. Phys or BSc MCSP and SRP
- Evidence of relevant post-graduate qualification
- Substantial post-graduate experience or equivalent, including work at Band 6 level in a variety of specialities
- Demonstrate awareness of the issues related to working in this specialty
- Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Able to teach skills and knowledge within both formal and informal environments
- Able to work collaboratively within the MDT Knowledge of Clinical Outcomes and Audit
- Demonstrate awareness of the issues relating to service delivery
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of the Data Protection Act and how this impacts on day-to-day practice
- Demonstrate effective skills in interpretation of basic statistical reports related to activity
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all groups of staff in both oral and written form
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Ability to give presentations
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a busy, challenging and dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to participate in the on call rota and/or weekend working rota
Desirable criteria
- Provide evidence on an up to-date CPD portfolio
- Member of relevant special interest group
- Relevant Management and leadership experience
- Demonstrate previous experience of supervision and development of junior staff

Job summary
Are you an experienced Physiotherapist looking to develop clinical and leadership skills within Respiratory?
An exciting opportunity has become available in the Respiratory Team. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated individual to fulfil this role.
You will work alongside the existing Band 7 within the team and others across the department to facilitate best practice and share learning opportunities. Collaborative working across QHB and RDH is also required.
You will both be working in the lead clinical role across the Respiratory wards and Critical Care areas at Queens Hospital, Burton, coordinating, supervising and developing the team.
You will have the opportunity to make a difference to a varied caseload of patients and you will be instrumental in influencing length of stay, and flow through the hospital.
It is vital you are able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and experience in the management of these patients throughout the inpatient pathway.
You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills and be willing to work flexibly.
