Role summary
This role is for an Activity and Recovery Support Worker within the Ramsey Unit, an Older Adults Dementia Assessment Service. The successful applicant will work alongside Occupational Therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver meaningful therapeutic activities for patients. The aim is to promote wellbeing, independence, and recovery for individuals living with dementia and complex mental health needs. This is a therapy-focused role, distinct from a traditional Healthcare Support Worker position.
Key responsibilities
- Planning and facilitating therapeutic and recreational activities.
- Supporting patients to identify personal goals and interests.
- Encouraging participation in groups, exercise and wellbeing activities.
- Building positive therapeutic relationships with patients and carers.
- Working closely with Occupational Therapists and ward teams.
- Supporting patients to maintain links with their community and recovery networks.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or care certificate completed (or willingness to complete in first 12 months from appointment) or equivalent knowledge skills and experience
- Ability to undertake Violence Reduction physical intervention training.
- Able to work without direct supervision to deliver a programme of distraction activities.
- Ability to communicate and work with people of all ages and adapt/develop activity programmes to reflect people's intellectual and physical abilities, and interests.
- Able to motivate service users using activity.
- Standard IT skills.
- Supporting people with mental illness e.g. nursing home, hospital ward, as a carer

Ramsey Unit is an Older Adults Dementia Assessment Service providing specialist inpatient assessment, treatment and support for people living with dementia and other complex mental health needs.
We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and motivated Activity and Recovery Support Worker to join our team. Working alongside Occupational Therapists, nursing staff and the wider MDT, the successful applicant will support patients through the planning and delivery of meaningful therapeutic activities that promote wellbeing, independence and recovery.
