Role summary

The Materials Management Officer will join the Procurement & Supplies team to monitor and manage stock in storerooms across wards and departments at University Hospitals Coventry, with occasional cover at Hospital of St Cross. This physically demanding role involves checking, ordering, and replenishing stock, as well as handling and moving goods daily. The successful candidate will act as a primary contact for materials management at ward level and support the expansion of the service. They will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with ward staff and suppliers, producing reports, and resolving issues related to deliveries.

Essential criteria

  • oComputer literacy including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. oEducated to GCSE or equivalent standard.

Desirable criteria

  • oHandling & Moving Training (with appropriate certification)
  • oMaterial management experience. oExperience in handling & moving heavy roll - cages & packages.
  • oExperience of stock control /materials management systems within NHS.
  • oKnowledge of materials management processes & procedures and use of data capture and ordering systems.
  • Skills and Abilities
  • oAbility to communicate effectively with customers & suppliers. oAbility to analyse data, make decisions and own & resolve problems. oSkilled in the movement, handling & storage of goods. oAbility to work on own initiative & to prioritise and organise own workload.

Job summary

The Procurement & Supplies are looking to appoint a Materials Management Officer to join their Materials management team based at University Hospitals Coventry with occasional cover at Hospital of St Cross.

The successful applicant will be part of a Materials Management team monitoring the stock in the storerooms on wards and departments within the Trust as part of the internal supply chain service.

  • Implement and manage the materials management function at ward / department level, acting as a primary point of contact and attending ward / department meetings when required.
  • Be able to manage this physically demanding role which involve moving, handling and checking of goods for much of the working day.
  • Have previous experience of working in a similar store's areas / retail environment.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Have General IT skills keyboard skills
  • Have Good standard of numeracy and literacy

Please note that this is a practical, hands-on role involving the movement and handling of goods on a daily basis. Candidates should be comfortable undertaking the physical duties associated with the position, for more details please see attached job description.
