Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, compassionate, and recovery-focused Occupational Therapy Assistant to join an Inpatient Eating Disorder Service. The role involves supporting adults and their families through their treatment journey, working closely with the OT team to deliver therapeutic group programmes and 1:1 work. The successful candidate will be part of a wider integrated multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality care for patients.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Occupational Therapy team and wider Team in contributing to the facilitation of client centred activities under guidance of qualified staff.
- Contribute to the daily running of the Vincent Square therapeutic programme and running of the ward, supporting the MDT.
- Provide activities with personal recovery principles in order to improve the service users' quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead.
- Contribute to the facilitation of a programme of social, creative and skills based activities within Vincent Square and trips within the local community to both individuals and groups which promotes social inclusion for service users.
- 1:1 Provision under the supervision of the Occupational Therapy Team
Essential criteria
- English GCSE or equivalent
- Experience in facilitating groups and individual activities.
- Experience of working within a team
- Experience of working with a multi cultural environment.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of people with mental health issues
- Able to communicate clearly both in written form and verbally.
- IT Skills
- Ability to work within a team.
- Able to manage time effectively
- Committed to working as part of an MDT
- Able to work flexibly.
- Able to utilise supervision effectively.
- Demonstrates a commitment to personal development
- Demonstrates an enthusiasm for the post.
- Ability to work independently and is self motivated.
