Role summary
This is an opportunity for an experienced Emergency Nurse to join a forward-thinking team at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves working in a highly acute, fast-paced environment within a Major Trauma Centre, contributing to the development of urgent and emergency care services. You will provide high standards of evidence-based nursing care, supervise junior staff, and contribute to a positive learning environment. The department actively prioritises staff wellbeing and offers opportunities for clinical development.
Key responsibilities
- Work within a clinical care team, taking personal responsibility and accountability for following Trust policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for assessment, planning, provision, maintenance and evaluation of patient care.
- Take responsibility for the supervision and guidance of other staff including healthcare support workers and students.
- Actively contribute to the provision of a good learning environment by taking on the role of mentor/assessor for learners.
- Organise and participate in the delivery of high standards of evidence based nursing care.
- Take regular responsibility to carry out required planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision.
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 12 months recent, post registration experience in an acute environment (ward area)
- Candidate will have undertaken training required by the ward/ department. i.e. IV drug administration, cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs, male catheterisation
- Registered Nurse/ Paediatric Nurse with current live NMC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Advanced communication skills, verbal & written, to include report writing and record keeping.
- Basic computer / IT skills and expectation to develop these in line with the needs of the service i.e. IHS, Acis, Email use
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Sound knowledge of the guidelines set out in the NMC code of professional conduct and current nursing Issues
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an emergency department
- Interest in student/peer education
