Role summary
This role is for an experienced OD generalist to deliver the UHD People Strategy by designing and implementing various Organisational Development interventions. The post holder will lead OD projects, provide professional advice, and ensure interventions maximize efficiency and improve patient outcomes. It requires experience in coordinating and managing OD projects, delivering interventions in complex organizations, and facilitation in healthcare settings. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative, building relationships internally and externally.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a key workstream within the OD Plan, engaging with internal and external stakeholders on areas like Culture & Engagement, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Leadership, Talent Management, and Team Integration.
- Play a crucial role in delivering trust strategies and people objectives to foster a compassionate, inclusive culture where staff feel valued and engaged.
- Provide professional advice and expertise as an OD consultant to maximize organizational efficiency, value staff, and improve patient outcomes.
- Create a culture of organisational development and learning by providing expert advice and support for improvement projects based on best practice.
- Lead on the research, design, and development of training programmes and workshops to support OD work streams.
- Manage functions such as the Culture Champions, including recruitment, development, and their ongoing role in engagement and decision-making.
Essential criteria
- Relevant post graduate or masters level qualification or combination of qualifications and experience or recent relevant experience to masters level
- Notably within an Organisational Development or Leadership & Management discipline
- Facilitation within an Acute Hospital environment or similar healthcare setting

- MBTI Step 1 & 2 practitioner
- ILM 5 award in Coaching & Mentoring (or equivalent)
- TED (Team Engagement & Development) Practitioner
- CIPD qualification
- Belbin Team Roles Practitioner
- FIRO-B Practitioner
- Programme or project management experience and or qualification
- Experience of designing and delivering a range of OD interventions to deliver improved outcomes.
- Working in a project management, or change management environment.
- Evidence of successful development and implementation of cultural change initiatives to achieve improved outcomes.
- Experience of writing and presenting Board reports, and designing development activities.
- Experience of working with staff at all levels to communicate, engage with, and listen to views.
- Within an NHS acute hospital or similar environment
- Proven ability to diagnose and contract using the OD cycle
- Competent team and individual coach
- Ability to source internal and external data sources, analysis of data to support projects and report writing
- Well-developed IT skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent numerical, verbal and critical reasoning
- Facilitation and presentation skills
- Proven team worker with the ability to motivate colleagues and staff
