Role summary
This role is for a dynamic, experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Care Homes Team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. You will provide excellent care to residents in care homes and enhanced assessment beds, delivering effective treatment and rehabilitation. The role involves supporting the Team Lead in developing pathways and services, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will undertake comprehensive assessments, formulate and deliver patient-specific OT programmes, and support discharge planning. The Trust supports training and development, and you will contribute to physiotherapy education.
Essential criteria
- oDegree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- oRegistered with HCPC
Desirable criteria
- oMember of specialist section with RCOT
- oExperience must include working within a community service / rehab / neurology or long-term conditions
- oExperience of working as part of an Occupational Therapy team and the wider MDT.
- oExperience of delegating to and supervising Occupational Therapy students and junior staff members.
- oContribution to the clinical education of less experienced staff/ undergraduate Occupational Therapists.
- oInvolvement in audit and research
- Communication
- oAble to adhere to Trust and Departmental documentation standards. Able to write complex patient reports
- oAble to communicate effectively in face-to-face contact, telephone contact, e-mail contact and internal and external meetings.
- Management experience
- oAble to organise and prioritise own caseload
- oAble to organise, supervise and delegate tasks to support workers
- oAble to work as a team member

Job summary
Are you a dynamic, experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for providing excellent care to residents in care homes and enhanced assessment beds? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 5 or established band 6 Occupational Therapist to strengthen the Care Homes Team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. We cover Sandwell care homes, Harvest View and other Enhanced Assessment Beds across the borough.
As part of your role, you will ensure best quality therapy for residents in both care homes and enhanced assessment beds, delivering effective treatment and rehabilitation. You will support the Team Lead Occupational Therapist's in establishing and developing pathways and services provided to those in enhanced assessment beds and care homes. This will support delivery of specialist assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning. You will work as part of an established multidisciplinary including Physiotherapist's, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Support Worker's, ACP's, Nurses, and Speech and Language Therapist's to meet the complex needs of our patients. The care homes team provides a 7 day therapy service to our patients.
