Role summary

This role involves supporting children and young people aged 5 to 19 with physical difficulties to achieve their goals within the Community Therapy Team. You will deliver therapy programmes in various community settings, including schools and clinics, and assist with assessment, treatment, and ongoing care. The position focuses on improving independence, mobility, and participation in daily activities for patients.

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of therapeutic procedures gained through a combination of formal training, short courses and experiences to diploma level 5 or equivalent. Or Foundation degree in health and social care or a level 5 apprenticeship

  • Level 3 Supporting Participation in Physical Activity for People with Long Term Health Conditions
  • Experience in health and/or social care settings, such as employment, work experience, volunteering or placement(s)
  • Experience of delivering therapy programmes.

  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of physical, mental, and behavioural health conditions
  • Familiarity of common conditions requiring therapy (e.g., developmental delays, neurological conditions, musculoskeletal issues)
  • Ability to develop and implement therapy programmes
  • Ability to speak to children, families explaining procedures and building rapport
  • Ability to deliver training to colleagues, parents and other specialties
  • Organisational skills to manage workload, prioritise and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Analytical skills to assess situations, make judgements and modify therapeutic interventions as needed

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community Therapy Team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

Based at Ryegate Children's Centre, you will work alongside a dedicated team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, supporting children and young people aged 5 to 19 years with physical difficulties to achieve their individual goals and maximise their potential.

This varied and rewarding role will see you delivering therapy programmes across a range of community settings, including mainstream and specialist schools, clinics, and the hydrotherapy pool. You will play a key role in supporting the assessment, treatment and ongoing care of children and young people, helping them to develop their independence, mobility and participation in everyday activities.

Our Community Therapy Team is experienced, supportive, compassionate and forward-thinking. You will benefit from working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team and will have the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience in a specialist paediatric environment.
