Role summary
This role is for a compassionate and enthusiastic Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker to join the dedicated maternity services team. You will support new and expectant families in establishing and maintaining safe, responsive infant feeding practices, promoting positive health outcomes for mothers and babies. Working alongside various healthcare professionals, you will provide practical, evidence-based support and information throughout the infant feeding journey. This is a specialized role, not a generic Maternity Support Worker position.
Essential criteria
- Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE A-C/4-9 or Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/)
- Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of compe-tency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care du-ties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3: -Theoretical knowledge -Experience of a range of care and related procedures -clinical observations -knowledge of relevant legislation

- Experience of working in health or social care.
- Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.

- Knowledge and Skills

- Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.
- Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.
- Ability to demonstrate the importance of holistic person-centred care & related procedures.
- Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation.
- Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective teamwork.
- Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Infant Feeding Maternity Support Worker to join our dedicated maternity services team. Working alongside midwives, infant feeding specialists, health visitors, and other healthcare professionals, you will provide practical, evidence-based support and information to women and families throughout their infant feeding journey.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to women and families with infant feeding, including breastfeeding and formula feeding.
- Assist mothers to initiate and maintain breastfeeding, offering practical guidance and encouragement.
- Promote responsive feeding and support parents in making informed feeding choices.
- Support women with expressing breast milk and safe storage practices.
- Deliver infant feeding information in antenatal, postnatal, community, and hospital settings.
