Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated and experienced nurse leader to manage the Children's Ward and children's elective care. The successful candidate will champion high professional standards, improve patient experience, and provide strong clinical leadership. It involves overseeing service and quality improvement programmes and supporting operational management. The post holder will be visible and accessible to children, families, and staff, focusing on fundamental aspects of family care.
Key responsibilities
- Be highly visible and accessible to children, families and staff.
- Focus on improving the fundamental and essential aspects of family care.
- Oversee the children's ward and children's elective care.
- Provide strong clinical leadership, focusing on patient experience and delivery of safe, timely, high quality care.
- Support service and quality improvement programmes and operational management of the Division.
- Ensure efficient and effective use of resources and maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery.
Essential criteria
- Current NMC registration
- Post registration course in speciality
- Degree or working towards degree level.
- A minimum of 5 years post registration experience
- A minimum of 2 years leadership experience; specifically in the speciality setting.
Desirable criteria
- Holds registered mentor or teaching qualification.
- Working towards masters level study
- Clinical supervision experience
- Experience of working with electronic health records
- Experience of the peri -operative setting
- Knowledge and Skills
- IT skills (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Budget management skills
- Ability to plan and prioritise own and others workload when under pressure
- Excellent communications skills
- Evidence of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and empowerment of others.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of service delivery
- Sound knowledge of the principles and practice of speciality care
- Awareness off current NHS issues

Job summary
We are looking to recruit a forward thinking, highly motivated and experienced nurse leader who will champion a high level of professional standards and excellence within children's services. This post has become vacant due to the current post holder promotion.
The successful applicant with have worked in a leadership role at band 6 or above. Training and development opportunities will be offered and bespoke to individual needs.
If you are dedicated to effective leadership, improving standards of care and patient experience as well as being responsible for providing personal, evidence-based care, then this could be the post for you.
You should have excellent interpersonal skills and a clear demonstration of the ability to lead a team with passion and enthusiasm.
