Role summary
This role involves delivering high-quality Breast Symptomatic and Screening Imaging Services across Greater Manchester, working autonomously within specialist areas. The practitioner will assess, manage, and prioritise their workload, providing advice and support to patients and colleagues. They are accountable for maintaining high standards of clinical performance and patient-centred care. The role requires continuous professional development and advanced clinical skills within a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a timely, efficient, and compassionate radiographic service in accordance with agreed national and local standards.
- Maintain an effective and efficient workflow across all areas of the service, adapting to changing demands.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner within the specialist area, undertaking advanced clinical duties and making appropriate clinical judgements.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images using specialised digital X-ray equipment, ensuring safety and accurate documentation.
- Act as an Operator, Practitioner, and Referrer under IR(ME)R 2017, ensuring compliance with legislative and professional responsibilities.
- Participate actively in the departmental Quality Assurance (QA) programme and annual audit programme.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Radiography degree/Diploma of the College of Radiographers equivalent
- HCPC Registered
- Personal indemnity insurance or membership of the Society of Radiographers
- PG certificate in Mammography
- Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Practice (or PgDip/MSc)
- Post qualification radiography experience.
- Evidence of continuing Professional Development
- Understanding of IRMER and IRR 2017
- Computer Literate
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good decision making skills skills.
- Motivational skills
- Counselling skills
- Knowledge of CRIS/NBSS
- Good organisational skills
- Proven ability to manage priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Self motivated and confident in own ability
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of breast services
- Mammography experience post qualification
- Mammography experience in the Breast Screening Service or a Symptomatic Breast Service.
- Knowledge/understanding of the principles of audit
- Knowledge of National Breast Screening Service.
