Role summary
This role is for a Band 7 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist to join the West Hertfordshire Community Respiratory Service on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will deliver patient-centred, integrated care for individuals with respiratory conditions like COPD, asthma, and bronchiectasis, working across various specialist services including pulmonary rehabilitation and virtual wards. The position involves autonomous clinical care, comprehensive patient assessments, and developing individualised treatment plans. You will also support junior staff, contribute to service development, and participate in professional development opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are evidence based.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of complex respiratory patients with co-morbidities, including physical examination, and develop treatment plans.
- Assess, develop and implement specialist care programmes, including pulmonary rehabilitation, home oxygen therapy, and breathlessness management.
- Accurately undertake specialist clinical skills including spirometry, airway clearance techniques and breathlessness management.
- Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical tests to form an accurate assessment and suitability for the Hospital at Home scheme.
- Provide care in a variety of clinical areas including patients homes and outpatient clinics.
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registion
- Post registration respiratory qualification or equivalent experience
- Teaching/Mentorship qualification or equivalent experience
- Possession of a degree or equivalent
- Experience of working with respiratory patients including bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD and ILD
- Experience of running pulmonary rehabilitation programme.
- Experience of management of breathlessness and anxiety.
- Experience of managing patient requiring chest clearance techniques
- Experience of working within a community setting.
- Demonstrates ability to develop new initiatives

- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to motivate self and others
- Ability to make decisions and prioritise actions

- A working knowledge of clinical governance and evidence based practice

- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the holistic needs of the client group

Job summary
West Hertfordshire Community Respiratory Service, provided by CLCH, is seeking a Band 7 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team on a 12 months fixed term contract.
You will work as part of a community respiratory service operating 5 days per week across West Hertfordshire, supporting people with COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis and interstitial lung disease.
The role involves delivering patient-centred, integrated care through a range of specialist services, which could include:
