Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join an established inpatient mental health Allied Health Professionals team at Woodlands. The role involves leading and developing the OT role in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), providing specialist assessment and intervention for males with acute and complex mental health difficulties. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, focusing on discharge planning, rebuilding skills, and adapting interventions based on mental state and risk. The position also includes leadership and supervision responsibilities within the AHP team.
Key responsibilities
- Discharge and transition planning
- Working 1-1 or in groups to rebuild skills and routines that support recovery
- Adapting interventions to take mental state, functional ability and risk into account
- MDT working
- Leadership and supervision for members of the AHP team and students
- Assessment and prescription of mobility equipment, working alongside the team Physiotherapist.
Essential criteria
- BSc/MSc or diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the HCPC
- Ability to travel independently
- Post registration experience in mental health
- Demonstrate leadership skills
Desirable criteria
- Practice Educator qualification
- Experience working in a range of mental health settings.
- Experience in running therapeutic groups

Job summary
Are you interested in joining an established inpatient mental health Allied Health Professionals team? We are looking for a band 6 OT to join our team at Woodlands. The AHP team works across our older adults ward, our 2 acute adult wards and the Psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU).
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate OT who can lead and develop the OT role in the specialist setting of the PICU. This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist OT assessment, formulation and intervention for males experiencing acute and complex mental health difficulties.
Working closely with nursing, medical, psychology and other AHP colleagues, OT is a valued part of the MDT.
It is an exciting time to be an Allied Health Professional at Norfolk and Suffolk because of investment in AHP leadership.
