Role summary
This role involves working as a Health Protection Practitioner within the Health Protection Strategic Team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The successful candidate will support the implementation and delivery of Health Protection Framework outcomes for Merthyr Tydfil. This includes targeted project work and coordinating existing workstreams to address health inequalities, pandemic planning, national elimination programmes, and immunisation support. The position is fixed-term until March 2028 due to funding.

- Work on health protection programmes and response in various settings and target groups.
- Build a resilient health protection system and promote a healthier population.
- Address health inequalities in health protection response.
- Contribute to pandemic planning and national elimination programmes for blood borne viruses and tuberculosis.
- Deliver training in health protection to staff and volunteers.
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent
- Public health policy/strategies
- Basic knowledge of the health policy context for NHS and local partners
- Health determinants
- Knowledge of one or more health promotion programme areas
- Post graduate work experience
- Experience of working with a range of partner organisations relevant to health protection
- Experience in establishing new initiatives
- Project management
- Communication skills
- Multi-media presentation skills
- Research methods including data collection and analysis
- Training skills
- Standard IT skills
- Welsh Language Speaking & Listening Skills (Level 3 and above/B2)
Desirable criteria
- Masters in Public Health/Health Protection
- UKPHR Practitioner Portfolio
- Evidence of CPD
