Role summary
This role is for an Endoscopy Assistant within the Endoscopy Unit at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide high-quality support for clinical procedures, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include assisting qualified nursing staff and consultants in delivering direct and indirect clinical care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures. The role requires strong communication skills and a commitment to patient care, with comprehensive training provided.
Key responsibilities
- Assist qualified nursing staff and consultants to deliver direct/indirect quality clinical care to patients undergoing procedures within the specialty of Endoscopy.
- Work without direct supervision but within defined limits and competence for the post using own initiative.
- Assess, deliver, and record direct and indirect care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures as delegated by registered nurse/consultant.
- Contribute to the care of patients in transition from one care setting to another.
- Provide assistance and support to patients during long and potentially difficult procedures (e.g., Colonoscopies and ERCPS).
- Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service.
Essential criteria
- Level 3 study in a health care related subject/NVQ level 3
- Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in nursing patients with varied health care problems.
- Working in a hospital environment
- Knowledge of Endoscopy procedures.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of JAG/GRS
- Experience of working in Endoscopy.
- Gin portfolio

Our Endoscopy Unit is JAG accredited and comprises a three-room Endoscopy suite , delivering both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for a wide range of patients. Along with a preoperative assessment service
The primary purpose of this role is to provide a high-quality, effective service in support of clinical procedures undertaken within the Endoscopy Unit.
