Role summary

This Assistant Psychologist role supports qualified psychologists on the Beechlydene unit, a 21-bedded acute mental health unit. Responsibilities include assisting with psychological assessments and interventions, both individual and group, under supervision. The postholder will also help develop psychological approaches, collate data for audit and evaluation, and contribute to service reports. This is a fixed-term, full-time position.

Job summary

Beechlydene unit is a 21 bedded acute mental health unit for males and females.

Main duties are to assist qualified psychologists in the delivery of psychological services within the acute care pathway (acute inpatient units and intensive services), including psychological assessment and intervention under the supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist, working independently within the limits agreed. The postholder will support the delivery of individual and group evidence-based psychological interventions, to service users within the acute care pathway. They will also support the Practitioner Psychologists in the facilitation of team formulations, for example reviewing and summarizing the clinical record in preparation for the team formulation session. The postholder will support the qualified Practitioner Psychologists in the evaluation of the service provided, and in undertaking relevant QI projects.
