Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic service in Derbyshire. For the first 12 months, the role will focus on reducing waiting lists by delivering initial assessments for children and young people. After this period, the post holder will provide a clinical service to children with various communication difficulties in diverse settings. The role is full-time and covers the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Area.
Essential criteria
- HCPC registered
- recognised degree in speech and language therapy
- Skills and Attributes
- Demonstrates good analytical and reflection skills
- Experience of working collaboratively with parents, education staff and multi agency professionals
- Excellent organisation skills with ability to work to deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Specialist training relevant to speech sound disorders, DLD or social communication differences.
- Aptitude/personal qualities
- Able to work as part of a Team
- Adaptable to change
- Enjoys problem solving and developing new ways of working
- Additional requirement
- Access to transport and able to travel efficiently across the locations
- Experience of working with children with a broad range of needs
- Demonstrable experience of conducting efficient, high-quality initial assessments and making appropriate recommendations for children with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs within agreed timescales
- Strong knowledge of assessments and assessment techniques used with children and young people
- minimum of 2 years post qualification experience as a SLT

Job summary
We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of around 100 staff, working across all service areas in Derbyshire.
This exciting opportunity has arisen in the children's team and we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced speech and language therapist with specialist skills in working with SLCN, social communication, speech sound disorders and DLD.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in reducing waiting times for children and young people accessing Speech and Language Therapy services. For the first 12 months, you will focus specifically on supporting the reduction of waiting lists through the delivery of initial assessments. This dedicated piece of work will contribute significantly to improving timely access to services for children and families across North Derbyshire.
After the first 12 months, you will then provide a clinical service to children and young people with a range of communication difficulties in a variety of settings, including education settings, nurseries, clinics and clients' homes.
The role is 1.0 wte and covers the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Area.
