Role summary
This role involves providing individualised quality nursing care to patients requiring Parenteral Nutrition and other IV therapies in their homes. The nurse will work autonomously, administering prescribed IV therapies, and providing training and education to patients and carers on managing their therapies and infusion devices. Key responsibilities
- Administer prescribed IV therapies and associated care and support to patients who are unable to be trained to independence.
- Provide training and education to support patients/carers in the connection and disconnection of Parenteral Nutrition and any other prescribed therapies to independence.
- Provide training and education to support patients/carers to use infusion devices to deliver their therapy/therapies independently.
- Support the provision of a phlebotomy/cannulation service for patients.
- Maintain contemporaneous nursing care records at all times in accordance with the NMC`s record keeping guidelines.
- Be competent in recognizing and managing a clinical emergency effectively, liaising with all relevant parties appropriately and using clinical judgement to assess and decision make.
Essential criteria
- RN with current NMC registration (adult)
- Current clinical experience minimum of least 1 year
- Competent in the management and delivery of IV Therapies
