Role summary
This role is for a Band 4 Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner with an interest in Mental Health, joining the Academy of Research and Improvement team. The post-holder will support Research Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in delivering NIHR portfolio research studies. Activities include recruiting participants, providing administrative support for site files and databases, and working across various specialty areas. The role also involves collaborating with community organizations through a community research partnership model.
Essential criteria
- A' Level/NVQ3 or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area
- Complete Care Certificate or willingness to undertake
- Evidence of on-going professional development
Desirable criteria
- International Conference on Harmonisation/Good Clinical Practice (ICH/GCP) certification
- Interest in mental health care and mental health research.
- Relevant clinical experience in a patient-facing healthcare clinical role.
- Experience of liaison with staff at all levels in healthcare.
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and face to face with professionals and non-professionals.
- IT literate (proficient in Microsoft office applications).
- Information Governance, Confidentiality and Data Protection.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated, able to organise a large and varied workload with minimal supervision.
- Being flexible and adaptable at work to meet priorities and provide cross cover for other colleagues.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to travel daily for meetings / clinical visits across a range of sites in Southampton/Portsmouth/Hampshire.
- Information Governance, Confidentiality and Data Protection
- Experience in the Mental Health care.
- Phlebotomy or venepuncture.
- Coordination of research trials.
- Knowledge of clinical procedures, patient record systems etc.
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of clinical research and/or clinical trials
- Knowledge of ethical and quality standards applicable to clinical trials, including EU Directive on ICH GCP requirements
- Additional Criteria
- Driving license

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner with a particular interest in Mental Health to join the Academy of Research and Improvement team within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust This is a full time contract; however, job share and alternative part time arrangements will be considered.
This role supports Research Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in the delivery of NIHR portfolio research studies. Activities include helping to recruit participants for research studies, providing administrative support for management of site files and computer databases. The post-holder will work on research studies across a range of specialty areas.
As well as working with our clinical teams, a core component of our research is our community research partnership model, in which we work collaboratively with other care organisations to deliver studies. We work with care homes, schools, charities and community organisations.
You will have significant experience in a patient facing healthcare role and administration in a healthcare setting. Although research experience is desirable, it is not essential as full training will be provided.
