Role summary

This role is for a highly motivated, registered Pharmacy Technician to join the Technical Services team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. You will support the delivery of aseptically prepared products and enhance your skills in a technical service environment. The position requires strong organisational skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to lead and manage staff. You will contribute to providing a cost-effective, safe, and appropriate supply of medicines to patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Deputise for Specialist or Senior Technicians in their absence.
  • Support and supervise the Technical Services Technicians and assistant teams.
  • Identify extended roles for support staff and areas for service improvements.
  • Plan staffing requirements and supervise technician and assistant rotas.
  • Act as a technician role model, providing safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the service and support professional development of staff.

Essential criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification - approved for registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • BTec Accuracy Checking Technician Qualification or working towards
  • Experience of supervising pharmacy services in primary or secondary care
  • Practice in one or more relevant areas
  • Ability to maintain and report on records and statistics
