Role summary

This Staff Nurse vacancy is on Ward 23, the Acute Stroke Ward, where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering nursing care for stroke patients. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing care from acute treatment through to rehabilitation. The ward is busy, often receiving patients directly from the Emergency Department for time-critical thrombolysis treatment. This role involves contributing to a therapeutic environment and adhering to hospital policies.

Job summary

A vacancy has become available for a Staff Nurse - within the Acute Stroke Ward, Ward 23, responsible for the assessment planning and delivery of nursing care for a caseload of patients. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi disciplinary team, treating stroke patients through acute treatment to ongoing care and rehabilitation. The ward is busy, often receiving patients directly from ED or via pre video triage with the ambulance service to ensure fast time critical delivery of thrombolysis treatment.

Main duties of the job

  • Take responsibility for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of the nursing care for a named caseload of patients, including their property and valuables .
  • Assist in creating a therapeutic environment which meets the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
  • Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to promoting a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of care and implementation of change.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Continuously update own skills and knowledge and maintain awareness of clinical issues.
