Role summary

The Failsafe Officer ensures robust, high-quality failsafe systems for Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) programmes. This role supports the Screening Co-Ordinator in developing and delivering the ANNB screening service according to National Screening Committee requirements. The officer will work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure timely screening offers and accurate data input into local and national databases. They will also implement and carry out failsafe checks for ANNB Screening Programmes.

Essential criteria

  • Good general education including GCSE in English and Maths (grade 4-9 or equivalent). NVQ 3 Business Administration or Team Leadership or Customer Care or equivalent qualification / experience. RSA III or equivalent level of skill gained through experience or alternative qualification.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous Experience of working in the NHS
  • essential/desirable
  • Experience with Data collation and analysis. Significant clerical/administrative experience within customer care environment or similar. Experience of working under pressure. Experience of working as part of a team in a mutli-disciplinary environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Maternity digital systems Knowledge of the five National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes

Job summary

The Failsafe Officer will ensure that robust, high quality failsafe systems are in place for large and complex Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) programmes. The post holder will support the Screening Co-Ordinator in ensuring that the ANNB screening service is continuously developed and delivered in accordance with the Failsafe requirements outlined by the National Screening Committee to the population of pregnant birthing people and newborn babies.

Main duties of the job

To work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams to ensure eligible women are offered timely antenatal and newborn screening in line with national and local guidance.

To oversee the input of information, including examinations, results and appointment to ensure they are accurately entered onto local and national databased via failsafe processes.

To implement and carry out failsafe checks for the ANNB Screening Programmes under the supervision of the ANNB Screen Co-Ordinator.
