Role summary
This role is for a pharmacy technician to join a healthcare team in a prison setting, delivering efficient and patient-centred care. Key responsibilities
- Provide medicines management services to patients within the prison, supported by a pharmacist.
- Administer medicines to patients against valid prescriptions and ensure correct usage.
- Advise patients on appropriate medicine use and promote healthy lifestyles for rehabilitation.
- Dispense prescriptions and stock items, supervising assistants in the dispensary.
- Undertake stock control, including top-up services, expiry date reviews, and storage facility checks.
- Manage own workload and supervise/enhance training opportunities for new staff and students.
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services or equivalent
- Have or working towards Medicine Optimisation
- Evidence of CPD
- Registration with GPhC as a pharmacy technician
- 2 years' experience of working in a pharmacy
- Good oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge of working within a set of SOPs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Previous prison or mental health pharmacy experience
