Role summary
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Medicines Optimisation Technician to join their Locality Medicines Optimisation (LMO) Team across Kent and Medway. This role involves improving patient outcomes through effective medicines optimisation and collaborative working within primary care settings. You will contribute to the Medicines Optimisation Strategy, supporting the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines while delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Support the training and development of administrators, PCN teams, and primary care staff on medicines-related processes.
- Undertake cost-effective medication reviews, audits, and prescribing switches.
- Conduct medicines safety audits and review patients in line with guidance.
- Support pharmacists and Lead Medicines Optimisation Technicians in delivering medicines optimisation priorities.
- Work with GP practices and Primary Care Networks to improve medicines optimisation processes.
- Manage and prioritise own workload effectively to meet agreed objectives and deadlines.
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in pharmaceutical science or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Skills for communication on complex information and administrative matters, requiring developed interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills
- A full, valid UK driving licence or a full driving licence issued by an EU country (not exchanged from a non-EU country) and the ability to travel independently are essential for this role.
